Mayrhofen, Zillertal, Austria

Situated in the heart of the Tyrol- 650Km of Piste 170 Lifts
I spent 6 months in Mayrhofen. Juggling jobs and accommodation. I had 3 different jobs, went through 2 boards and moved place 6 times.

Mayrhofen Shelter for the homeless.

Above; are the founder members and support workers for Mayrhofen shelter for the homeless. They and their e-bay purchased caravan helped many get off the streets of Mayrhofen, including myself. Into the partly dry partly moldy and moderately warm caravan.

The last known whereabouts of the caravan is that it was swapped for a moderate size of weed and was touring the Europe music festivals. Any update would be appreciated.

Im Ziilllllertal-art

I discovered this mural in Schwaz just out side of the zillertal valley. It can be found by walking along the south side of the Inn river, up a short stroll up the hill near the main town church.

Prague. Czech Rep. Amsterdam, Holland

PRAGUE

Got to the hostel around midday, managed to find my way from a few scribbles on a bit of paper across Prague to Clown and Bard hostel. http://www.clownandbard.com/
Prague turned into a bit of a blur, the hostel feels like an underground lazy hangout, where the reception is a bar, a huge 32 bed Dorm in the loft and a few subtle pieces of art, like the type writer poem in the bar/lobby...or is it all just a bar?

First day exploring I headed to the art gallery, on the one closed day of the week...a Monday??  Instead I explored the area with a guy called Dylan from the hostel, withing half an hour we found an abandoned water world stadium and an empty abandoned circus behind it. Strange and eerie.
Best Club In town X club

"I am in the best club of my life, the music is like German House, everyone has dreads to their ass and is tripping there balls off dancing like aliens." .

Not the nicest area of town,in the north I think. Everything is made of scrap metal, the bar the walls the seats, rotating glowing sculptures on the ceiling, the lot. Lots of dreads, techno, house, weird dancing. Why not. Hopped on a random bus home which was full of tramps sleeping the night, lucky guess as it dropped us on the main street not to far from the hostel..

"There is a glowing robotic machine dancing on ceiling"

Tartan army invasion

Scotland vs Czech Republic. The Tartan army came and took over the city, I was told 30,000 fans. There were road blocks around the city and police choppers keeping an eye on things.
Plenty of rubbish and smashed glass left all over town

AMSTERDAM

I spent too long in Czech Republic so instead of taking the train across Germany I took a flight to Amsterdam. I arrived late afternoon and took a bus to Harlem, a suburb on the outskirts of Amsterdam. I was there for a beach party to see Rowans set -  http://www.rowanb.com/category/mixtapes/ .

I was so so late, so lost, such a smelly backpacker lost in town sat on my pack. I couldn't get in contact and it was getting dark I was sat on my bag and didn't even have an address or a name of anything. Just Rowans number and Harlem scribbled on a bit of paper. The set was underway so couldn't speak properly but i got the name of the area and the beach party name. I was about to get on the wrong bus when I heard a Dutch girl ask the bus driver asking about my route. Turned out she was luckily off to the same party and I made it!

Hungary - Budapest

BUDAPEST

Easyjet flight to Budapest, within 5minutes of being in Hungary I was being offered a lift into town by a stranger of my flight. I had helped this woman and her son with their bag off the plane and chatted for a while through Immigration. The train was just as easy to get into Central Budapest, so they gave me a lift to the train station, they then asked a random local to make sure I got on the right train and the cheap ticket.
It was Rustic Eastern European with old slam door trains. I meet another English guy called Pete at the station, on our train we had a Hungarian lout. Spitting across the carriage and punching his fist at us and the back seats. Nice. Everything stayed cool. Either he wanted a fight with us, or he wanted us to jump the conductor with him. No idea. Either way we made it to Budapest central. I split from Pete, got lost and eventulaly found a Hostel, Carpe Noctem. http://carpenoctemhostel.com/

The dorms were good, It was like a small homely top floor flat, loads of Art work on the walls done by travelers, a small kitchen, sofas and bar crawls most nights.

Below are photos of the House of Terror museum, exhibition and memorial to the previous communist regimes

There must have been around 20- 30 of us , Big Lebowski style. We got some strange looks on the Trams of Budapest. Bowling and drinks carried on into the night, gowns and all.

Three nights of bar crawls was enough for me, I had seen the wicked city so I went and took the underground to the bus station to catch a night bus. I spent most the night on the floor of the station with three Koreans who could speak very little English. They had no concept that the bus could be late and how no one had any idea when it would arrive. The station shut down while we were waiting so it ended up just the Hungarian security guard the Koreans and me trying to chat to each other while all half asleep in the empty bus station. Most of the chatting involved me translating that the bus was still not here....but that it was on its way somewhere in Slovakia.

The bus came, eventually, 6 hours late.
Through Slovakia I went, heading to the Czech Republic. I would liked to have stopped in Bratislava having seen it at night out of the bus window. I didnt eat much that day or while waiting for the bus as I had spent all my Hungarian Forints. Slovakia and the Czech Republic are on the Euro and the only Euros I had were packed at the bottom of my bag under the bus, so unless I used my card, no food until i reached Prague!
